Series 3 Lecture 2: Canonicity and Apostolicity (Video)

An orthodox Christian theological grounding for a Standard Sacred Text must of necessity begin with Jesus Christ and the Christ-complex – the death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and Pentecost – to be properly formulated (Luke 24: 27, 44). Beginning with the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, “God manifest in the flesh” (1 Tim. 3:16), Christo-centricity is at “center of the center” of orthodox theology (2 Cor. 1:20). The links between Christ’s ministry and the inspired written word are as follows: Christ, through the Apostolate, as authoritative representatives of Christ (Matt. 16:19; John 20:23) declared the Apostolic message that carried the Authority of Christ (Gal. 1:8-9; 1 Thess. 2:13). The spoken Apostolic message, as the Apostolate served as plenipotentiaries of Christ was the content for the inspired autograph, (2 Peter 1:21).
